Different processes and equipment need different sizes. Espresso machines need fine, tightly packed grounds.
Go with filtered water. Especially if your tap water tasted odd.
Know your brewing method.
Read up on the right water temperature for your chosen method. Ideally good coffee should be brewed at a temperature between 195 to 205-degrees Fahrenheit.
Make sure your equipment's clean.
Coffee can leave behind an oily residue that can turn rancid. This will make your coffee bitter, or sour. Get rid of this by regularly cleaning all of your equipment.
Read up on brewing time, Too!
Brewing time can be as short as 20 to 30 seconds for espresso, or as long as 12 hours for cold brew.
Make sure your equipment's clean.
